It’s a very sad day for everyone that knew John Benoit. We knew each other for a long time and I was always supportive of all the important positions he held to benifit the people in this valley.

I hope a committee will be formed and money allocated to name a street after him and perhaps a building or a bronze statue. In other words something that will be in this valley for us now and others that will live here when we are no longer here.

I sent many cards to his home address during the time he was still here and asked so many people to pray for a healing for him. This morning I did call his office and offered my services with the funeral services in either planning it or being a volunteer the day of the service. His staff knows me. When I would stopped by they were still very hopeful every week. They asked everyone including myself to sign the sheet-in because after each week they would deliver it to him at his home and he could see all the folks that stopped by to catch up on any news about his progress.

He was a great man with a big heart for so many things that were good for our valley! I for one will never forget him.

It is with great loss and sadness that Riverside County and the Coachella Valley has lost such a hard-working and community orientated person as Supervisor John Benoit . I enjoyed the privilege of hearing him speak on two different occasions and personally meeting him.
It is too bad that all local and county officials are not as dedicated and respected as Supervisor Benoit.
