DESCRIPTION:We apologize\, but this event will be postponed as the Senator is currently under the weather. We plan to reschedule for April\, or at the latest May. All tickets will automatically transfer to the new date. \nWe sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. \n\nThe Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a legislative breakfast with California State Senator Steve Padilla. The event will be held on Friday\, March 6th\, at 8:30 a.m. This event will be held at the Fantasy Springs Special Events Center. This event is $35 per person for members or $45 for non-members and includes a seated breakfast. Event sponsorship available at $300 which includes four (4) seats. Come share your thoughts on legislative and community issues. Senator Padilla will be answering questions provided by our legislative committee as well as our membership at large. \nSpace is limited so please register in advance. While members of the media are welcome to attend and take notes\, please no recordings. \nThank you to our generous sponsors: AT&T\, Coachella Valley Public Cemetery District\, Desert Care Network\, Desert Urgent Care\, Fantasy Springs Resort Casino\, Palm Springs International Film Society\, Riverside County Supervisor V Manuel Perez\, Sun Community Federal Credit Union\, and Visit Greater Palm Springs. \nAbout Senator Padilla \nSenator Steve Padilla was elected to the Senate in November 2022\, representing the communities of Chula Vista\, the Coachella Valley\, Imperial Beach\, the Imperial Valley\, National City\, and San Diego.  Senator Padilla is a native of San Diego\, a graduate of Bonita Vista High school\, and lifelong Chula Vista resident. \nSenator Padilla has dedicated his life to public service. Before becoming an elected official\, he served 13 years in law enforcement\, beginning in the City of Chula Vista and concluding in the City of Coronado\, where he served as a Detective\, specializing in domestic violence and child abuse. Senator Padilla’s interest in public affairs began early in life\, as did his service to Chula Vista\, where he served as a member of the Board of Ethics and Safety Commission. He was elected for the first time to the City Council in 1994 and served two terms. In 2002\, Steve was elected the City’s 38th Mayor and served from 2002 – 2006. Senator Padilla is the first person of color ever elected to City office in Chula Vista history\, the City’s first Latino Mayor\, and the first openly LGBT person to serve or be elected to city office. Senator Padilla returned to elected office in 2016 and\, only one year later\, was appointed for the second time to the California Coastal Commission\, where he served as Chairman from 2019-2021. \nSince being elected to the Senate Senator Padilla has authored legislation that created the first Conservancy in the state in over 20 years\, established the nation’s first regulations around chatbots\, and recently proposed the nation’s first moratorium on AI-embedded toys to protect children. \nHe holds undergraduate degrees in Liberal Arts and Public Administration from Southwestern College and National University\, and studied law at Western State University\, College of Law. He has been a published columnist writing on local\, state\, and national policy issues.
