Opening Weekend at the Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival

News from The Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival:

The 2018 Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival had a fantastic opening weekend. With $5 admission all day on opening day to the Presidents’ Day Parade with 108 entries it was a jam-packed weekend. Just under 107,000 fairgoers came out to enjoy the sunshine, exhibits and shows, and of course the fair food!

With a WAR and Chase Rice concert, four Monster Truck shows, a Bull Riding show and a parade behind us, we still have lots in store for the next six days. Midweek there’s the Smooth Sounds of Santana, Flashback Boyz Band, Andy DiMino’s Toast to Dean Martin, and of course, all of the other great shows like Cooking with Dates, the Nightly Musical Pageant, Camel & Ostrich Races, Scott Land’s Marionettes, Scott’s World of Magic, Karaoke, Hypnotist shows and so much more! On Thursday, February 22nd at 6pm, there will be a special Veterans’ Appreciation Ceremony honoring Edward G. Johnson of Desert Hot Springs. Every day Veterans with up to three guests get in free at the Fair.

On opening weekend, 88 dogs have already found forever homes at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services adoption tent. Adoptions are just $40 and the adoption fee includes vaccination, a microchip and all dogs are already spayed and neutered – so they’re ready to go home right away.

On closing weekend Lou Gramm, founding member of Foreigner, with opening act Foghat will be here to rock the house! If you missed the monster trucks the first weekend, don’t worry there are three more shows and a Demolition Derby! On the last day, SuperFiesta returns featuring Los Tequileros de Ramon Jimenez, Banda Pachuco and Carmen Jara.
Don’t miss out on the remaining special promotions. Tuesday is KMIR Day: say the phrase that saves for $6 admission all day; Wednesday is Riverside County Department of Waste Resources Day: bring in a small e-waste item for recycling (see list of approved items at www.DateFest.org) and get into the Fair for free! Kids’ Days are Tuesday-Thursday: after 3pm one child is admitted free with every paid adult. Every day Veterans with up to three guests get in free at the Fair.
