The Evening Rotary Club of Cathedral City is proud to announce the 17th Annual Fields of Valor, a week-long tribute to honor and remember our veterans. From November 9 through November 15, 2024, Patriot Park, located at 33998 Date Palm Dr., Cathedral City, CA 92234, will be transformed with 2000 American flags to honor our military past, present, and fallen. A tribute and recognition for Purple Heart recipients will be featured.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:
- 11/8 – 7:00 a.m. to help put in rebar at Patriot Park (please tell your village of friends and businesses)
- 11/9 – 8:00 a.m. Panackes and put up flags (please tell your village of friends and businesses)
- 11/15 – 7:00 a.m. Take down flags and rebar
The event will begin with a pancake breakfast, Opening Ceremony on Saturday, November 9, at 9:00 a.m., featuring a motor procession by the Cathedral City Police and Fire Departments along Date Palm Drive. Cathedral City officials will welcome the community of Coachella Valley and beyond this meaningful tribute.
A special walking procession, led by the powerful sounds of bagpipes, will guide volunteers as they place 2000 flags on the park grounds. Each flag serves as a symbol of gratitude and remembrance. Throughout the week, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., a recorded soundtrack will play the names of local veterans who have been lost, a poignant reminder of those who served.
Daily Observances:
- Flag Display: Daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., beginning Saturday, November 9.
- Taps: Played each day at 4:00 p.m.
- Flag Removal: Friday morning, November 15, beginning at 7:00 a.m
