News from: The Rotary Club of Indio
The Rotary Club of Indio is holding its 28th Annual Math Field Day on Saturday, May 3rd at John Glenn Middle school, Indio CA. The event was first held in 1995, missing only the Covid pandemic years and held consecutively ever since.
During the day middle school math students from all three Coachella Valley school districts compete with one another, solving math problems and working in teams to demonstrate their math skills and earn the opportunity for awards and recognition. One goal of Math Field Day is to stimulate interest in mathematics among Coachella Valley middle school students as their preparation for the Day has begun months before the event. During this year’s award ceremony, the math learners will hear from Ms. Heather Reylek, a former student of La Quinta High School who has earned degrees from the College of the Desert, as she explains in her profession of mechanic in auto racing that math is everywhere!
Math Field Day is a free, family friendly event and open to the community. The Rotary Club of Indio invites you to come, observe and cover the event.
