A heartwarming story

Message from Dr. Carreon Foundation:

A heartwarming story:

Recently I had an “aha” moment, one which reinforced my love for the work I do with the Dr. Carreón Foundation, and with Rotary.

I was at my Palm Desert Rotary club meeting and the Program Speaker for the day came up to me and said:

“I’d like to introduce myself. I am Robert Hughes, principal at Cesar Chavez Elementary School in Coachella, and I am a proud alumnus of the Dr. Carreón Foundation. Your foundation believed in me when I graduated high school in the late 1990’s and because of you I was able to go to college. Now, I am back in the Coachella Valley doing what I love best, working with kids in education in the community in which I was raised. If there is anything I can do for the Dr. Carreón Foundation, please let me know. I’d love to help.” Sweet!

With an enviable 85% success rate (yes, that’s the college completion number for Dr. Carreón Foundation scholars), we are proud of our 26 year record of providing continuing education opportunities for our community’s youth of Mexican-American descent. Equally rewarding is that the majority of our alumni come back to the Coachella Valley to pursue rewarding careers.
