News from: The City of Indio
The deadline to apply for the ‘Help 2 Others Indio COVID-19 Water Bill Assistance Program’ is now extended through April 30, 2021, to allow more Indio Water Authority (IWA) customers to take part in the program. All IWA residential customers financially impacted by COVID-19, regardless of past due balance, are encouraged to apply.
“Many people who qualify for these grants have not submitted applications at this point,” said United Way of the Desert CEO Kristal Granados. “We want to make sure this money goes to the people who need it to get back on their feet.”
The ‘Help 2 Others Indio COVID-19 Water Bill Assistance Program’ is funded through a $110,000 allocation of Community Development Block Grant coronavirus funds from the City of Indio. United Way of the Desert is administering the program through an existing partnership with IWA. Funding may cover all or partial bills which were due after April 1st, 2020, based on the number of applicants and availability of funds. Eligibility has also expanded to include applicants who have past due bills issued between April 1st, 2020, and February 28th, 2021.
