Applications are now being accepted to apply for a Theresa A. Mike Scholarship. The scholarships, range from $500 to $5,000, are available to all high school seniors, recent high school graduates, as well as returning college students who meet the eligibility requirements. Applications must be submitted by June 30, 2019.

The Theresa A. Mike Scholarship (TAM) was created by the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians to help students achieve their dreams of higher education. The Scholarship is organized for the purpose of recognizing the talent of young adults who are interested in furthering their education and who have a dedication to themselves and the betterment of the communities in which they live.

The Theresa A. Mike Scholarship Foundation has partnered with OneFuture of the Coachella Valley and the Women Leaders Forum. Students who live in the Coachella Valley or Morongo Basin and meet the requirements, have an opportunity to apply and possibly be awarded a joint scholarship from both TAM and OneFuture for up to $5,000.

The Theresa A. Mike Scholarship Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has been contributing to students’ educational dreams since 1998 with more than $800,000 in scholarships given to more than 800 deserving recipients. The scholarship funds can be used for tuition, fees, living expenses and books for those attending any accredited institution including a university, college/community college or technical school.

“Every year we meet incredible students who are eager to further their education,” said Dean Mike, President, Theresa A. Mike Foundation and Former Chairman of the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians. “It is truly our honor to reward these deserving students and help them achieve their goals. We cannot wait to see what this year’s recipients’ futures hold.”

About The Theresa A. Mike Scholarship Foundation:

The Theresa A. Mike Scholarship Foundation was started by the Mike Family in 1998, to honor the memory of Theresa A. Mike, who was committed to developing a sense of cultural richness, history, and future for the people of her tribe. Its mission is to enhance the education of Native Americans students with needed financial resources so that they may reach their education goals. Today, High school graduates of the Coachella Valley and Morongo Basin are eligible to apply for Scholarships. This is possible because of the strong support of the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians, the Theresa A. Mike Scholarship Foundation, OneFuture Coachella Valley and Women Leaders Forum. Since the inception of the Theresa A. Mike Scholarship Foundation in 1998, more than $800,000 has been given in scholarships to nearly 800 worthy recipients. The Theresa A. Mike Scholarship Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
