News from: Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia’s Office
Tomorrow, Friday, March 29th, Assembly Committee on Water, Parks, and Wildlife Chair, Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella) will host an Eastern Coachella Valley water tour for state policymakers and advocates. This opportunity will help raise awareness to the unique set of safe drinking water infrastructure disparities facing local schools and mobile home communities as well as provide visitors with a first-hand glimpse of the Salton Sea.
Last month, Assemblymember Garcia held an abridged version of this tour for the newly appointed California Secretary for Natural Resources, Wade Crowfoot, and California State Water Resources Control Board Chairman, Joaquin Esquivel. Chairman Esquivel will be returning for this event to continue his exploration of these regional water concerns and build additional local partnerships.
Tom Steyer, renowned business leader, philanthropist, and President of NextGen America, who has taken a keen interest in the ongoing safe drinking water policy conversations, will also be in attendance.
Over the past few months, Assemblymember Garcia has made it a point to tour regions across the state to ensure that AB 217, his “Safe Drinking Water for All” legislative proposal, is one that is equitable, sustainable, and reflective of the needs of all California.
Media will have access throughout the entire day. Those interested in traveling on the bus are encouraged to reach out to reserve seats. A detailed itinerary of all stops can be made available upon request to help accommodate media interested in following along independently or on specific tour spots.
