The Coachella Valley Neighborhood Center, which is now open, represents the next key step in making Braille Institute’s services more accessible in Palm Desert County. The center is conveniently located at the prime intersection of El Paseo Drive and Highway 111 in the El Paseo Plaza. The center is on the first floor for easy access, in addition to having ample and adjacent parking.

Braille Institute offers services at the new Coachella Valley Neighborhood Center for local residents living with vision loss. Service offerings include low vision consultations, library services, technology training, orientation and mobility, and daily living skills. Anyone experiencing vision loss (often as a result of macular degeneration, diabetes, glaucoma, cataracts or other condition) which cannot be corrected by conventional glasses/contact lenses can benefit from these services, which are all free of charge.

For those who cannot attend the open house, tours will also be available by appointment through April.
Backround: Braille Institute has been serving the Coachella Valley community since 1973 by offering free programs and services to those who are blind or visually impaired. The need for services for visually impared people is expected to double in the US to 8 million.
