Coachella Brings Bigger Crowds, More Business

Indio, CA: The Coachella Music Festival delivered, again.  Every year our valley looks to the annual financial behemoth to take our season out in style, one last boom of packed hotel rooms and stacked pancakes at the local breakfast spots.   This year the crowds were bigger, and we are confident the final financial impact numbers will be as well.

While the numbers are always big, more about those in a moment, of equal value is the exposure to the world our valley gets.  Case in point, here are a few of the celebrities the festival brought to our valley over the weekend – Rihanna, Sophie Turner, Kendal and Kylie Jenner, Emma Roberts, Nicole Richie, Katy Perry, Jeremy Scott, Joe Jonas – you get the point.  The significance?  How about 1,500,236?  That was the number of “likes” Kendal Jenner got on her photo at Coachella.  On just one feed!  Coachella doesn’t just put our valley in front of the world every year, it paints the globe with so many thick coats of photos you would have to be in a cave to miss it.  The marketing value of the exposure the valley gets?  That is a report I would like to see!

On the financial side the numbers are just as staggering.  The festivals last year had a $704 million dollar impact globally to the economy.  Of that total, more than $403 million directly benefited businesses in the Coachella Valley.  With this years attendance increase, we are likely to see a significant rise in that number when the finals number are tallied for 2017.  Did we mention we still have Stagecoach to go?

Final words on this years Coachella – thank you Goldenvoice.
