Indio, CA: The entire leadership apparatus of the Coachella Valley gathered at the Fantasy Springs Special Event Center on Thursday to discuss the opportunities and challenges that currently face the valley. All nine valley Mayors (Council Member Glenn Miller stood in for Mayor Elaine Holmes) and four tribal leaders were present to offer updates on their respective areas of the desert, as well as tackle a host of questions submitted by the Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce (GCVCC) membership.
This is the second year the GCVCC has hosted the event, designed to bring together key leaders from across the valley. “I think it is a unique event,” said Joshua Bonner, GCVCC CEO. “As a regional organization we are looking across the entire valley for opportunities, in many cases the answers involve multiple agencies and partners to get things done. To the extent we can facilitate conversation and cooperation, we will.” Mayor Stan Henry from Cathedral City seemed to echo that sentiment from the stage, noting the importance of what the chamber was doing regionally. Mayor Henry encouraged all cities to work together, pointing to more cooperation among cities as being key to future successes for the valleys economy.
The event was held before a sell out audience of over 300 people.
