The Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the City of Desert Hot Springs invites you to the ribbon cutting for the reopened roads in Desert Hot Springs. On August 20, 2023, Tropical Storm Hilary hit the Coachella Valley, and the City of Desert Hot Springs suffered major impacts. The storm caused major damages to four locations along Mission Creek; Pierson Blvd, Little Morongo Rd, Dillon Rd, and Indian Canyon Dr. The ribbon-cutting ceremony starts at Noon on Wednesday, May 22nd, and will take place at Indian Canyon Drive between Pierson Blvd and Mission Lakes Blvd.
Below is the overarching scope of repairs done throughout Desert Hot Springs.
Pierson Blvd Bridge over Mission Creek – One damaged bridge pier was structurally reinforced and re-constructed.
Little Morongo Road at Mission Creek Crossing – The damaged low water crossing was re-constructed with a concrete top with buried concrete cutoff walls that will prevent future roadway damage and erosion from storm events and flooding.
Dillon Road over Mission Creek – The damaged low-water crossing was re-constructed with three 8’x4’ box culverts, a concrete top roadway, rip rap, and buried concrete cutoff walls, that will prevent future roadway damage and erosion from storm events and flooding.
Indian Canyon Dr over Mission Creek – The low-water crossing was re-constructed with three 8’x4’ box culverts, a concrete top roadway, rip rap, extended buried concrete cutoff walls, and extended wing walls and headwalls, that will prevent future roadway damage and erosion from storm events and flooding.
