Fantasy Springs Resort Casino proudly celebrated its Native American Day on September 26, 2024 honoring the rich cultural heritage of the Cabazon Band of Cahuilla Indians and highlighting the resort’s commitment to its team members.
This year’s celebration was particularly special as it also coincides with the 35-year anniversary of longtime team member, Joaquin Ortiz who was presented with heartfelt gifts.
About 1,000 employees and their families attended the Native American Day event which included a colorful light show featuring 500 drones set to Native American music and the telling of the Cahuilla people’s history, traditional performances, educational exhibits, and cultural demonstrations, aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of Native American traditions.
There were also dozens of vendors featuring traditional Native American dishes, artists selling beautiful jewelry and crafts, a zip line, Ferris wheel and other fun family activities.
Chairman of the Cabazon Band of Cahuilla Indians, Doug Welmas, praised the hard work and loyalty of the resort’s employees, saying, “Our team members are the backbone of Fantasy Springs. It’s their dedication and spirit that make this place a community, not just a destination. We’re proud to celebrate their efforts every day, and we honor them by sharing our rich heritage.”
The team member highlight is the recognition of Joaquin Ortiz for his incredible 35 years of service, making him the first employee to hit that milestone.
