FORMER 4-DIVISION WORLD CHAMPION MIGUEL COTTO TO BE SPECIAL VIP GUEST FOR FRIDAY, JUNE 21st EDITION OF GOLDEN BOY BOXING

Former four-division champion and future Hall of Famer Miguel Cotto will be the special VIP guest for the June 21stedition of Golden Boy Boxing at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino’s Special Events Center. The event will be headlined by the 12-round rematch between Andrew “El Chango” Cancio and Alberto “Explosivo” Machado for the WBA Super Featherweight World Title. Cotto (47-6) is the first Puerto Rican boxer to capture world titles in four weight classes (super lightweight, welterweight, super welterweight and middleweight). In a career that spanned from 2001 to 2017, the living legend faced some of the best fighters of his generation, including Zab Judah, Shane Mosley, Antonio Margarito, Ricardo Mayorga, Paulie Malignaggi, Sergio Martinez and current middleweight/ super middleweight world champion Canelo Alvarez.

Cotto will be in attendance to meet fans, sign autographs and take pictures inside the Fantasy Springs Special Events Center. The meet-and-greet is open to the public with the purchase of a ticket to the event.

In the main event, Blythe’s Cancio (20-4-2, 15 KOs) will face Machado (21-1, 17 KOs) in a rematch of their sold-out title bout last February at Fantasy Springs. Cancio scored three knockdowns over the San Juan, Puerto Rico native to force a stoppage at 2:16 of Round 4.

In the co-main event, Genaro “El Conde” Gamez (9-0, 9 KOs) of San Diego returns to Fantasy Springs after his impressive first-round knockout victory against Daniel Evangelista. Now, Gamez is scheduled to fight in an eight-round super lightweight clash.

Additional fights on the card include:

Local favorite Rommel “The Legacy” Caballero (5-0, 4 KOs) of Coachella returns in a four-round super featherweight fight.

Aaron “Silencer” McKenna (7-0, 4 KOs) in a six-round welterweight clash.

Anthony Garnica (1-0, 1 KO) of Oakland returns in a four-round super bantamweight battle against Gilberto Duran (3-2, 3 KOs) of Yakima, Wash.

Emilio Rodriguez (3-1, 2 KOs) of Van Nuys in a four-round middleweight bout against Lucius Johnson (4-5-1, 3 KOs) of Compton.

Cancio vs. Machado II is a 12-round fight for the WBA Super Featherweight World Title presented by Golden Boy and Miguel Cotto Promotions.
