News from the Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce Legislative Action Committee
The GCVCC recently worked with a coalition of chambers and business associations from across Southern California to avert a potentially devastating nurses strike in the region. Urging action from the Governor, the collation worked behind the scenes to push all parties involved to put public interests ahead of labor disagreements.
The letter states, “The undersigned Chambers of Commerce and Business Trade organizations are writing you to express our urgent concern with the announced planned strike of the SEIU 121 RN union at Riverside Community Hospital from December 24, 2020 through January 3, 2021. We believe you have the authority to halt this action under the California Emergency Services Act, and you share the moral obligation to speak out against it on behalf of the communities of which you have asked so much sacrifice since March of this year.”
