News form the GCVCC Business Legislative Advocacy Committee
The Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce is pleased to provide you with this letter of support to include the City of Cathedral City’s planned Date Palm Drive Rehabilitation Project from Ramon Road to Gerald Ford Drive as a Community Project in the Fiscal Year 2022 Appropriations Bill for the Department of Transportation. We are excited that Congress has reintroduced the ability for Members to submit individual projects for federal funding. In this way, Congress can be engaged in the local infrastructure needs and challenges.
Date Palm Drive is such an important corridor for our local businesses who rely on clean, easy access for shoppers to be interested in making those trips. The Date Palm Corridor between Ramon Road and Gerald Ford connects Interstate 10 all the way through the City to East Palm Canyon Drive. As such, it contains many of Cathedral City’s shopping centers, the local High School and adjacent Big League Dreams Baseball/Softball Facilities, and many other local businesses. The roadway serves as a Gateway to the City and maintaining the pavement should be a high priority.
In this unprecedented time of need, federal investment in our community to kickstart this Date Palm Drive Rehabilitation Project would make great strides in supporting our local economy.
Thank you for your support and efforts in bringing critical federal investments to our community.
