GCVCC Youth Mentor Program Completes First Class

News from the GCVCC and One Future

Coachella Valley, CA: The Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with One Future, has passed its first group of future professionals through our 2019 Youth Mentor Program.

Participants were asked to attend at least four networking events during the month of August. While attending these GCVCC networking events, they focused on developing professional soft skills. Participants were asked to work on business basic skills such as good eye contact, friendly communication, and networking basics. The process also helps connect youths to local business professionals, growing their local network and preparing them for future careers within our desert economy. Local professionals were encouraged to share their career path experiences, common obstacles and opportunities with the professions, and career advice.

Upon successfully attending and engaging in four events, students were awarded a certificate of completion for One Future Essential Soft Skills.

“This program helps fulfill one of the chamber’s core missions, grow and prepare a future workforce for the Coachella Valley,” says Director of Membership, Rebecca Rizzo.  “The sooner we can connect our future professionals to the business environment they will be working in, the better we can prepare them for the opportunities and challenges ahead.  We are very proud of this program and look forward to successfully graduating more future professionals.”
