News from the City of Indio
Indio, CA: By leveraging both state and federal funding, the City of Indio is continuing to invest in the safety, health and mobility of its neighborhoods by constructing over five miles of new sidewalk around Herbert Hoover Elementary School. The project will also upgrade pedestrian access ramps and driveway approaches to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, plus add some signage, crosswalks and street striping.
Herbert Hoover Elementary’s proximity to Miles Ave. Park made it an ideal location for the addition of sidewalks, so that families can enjoy increased pedestrian access to the City’s outdoor amenities, as well as increased walkability in this mostly residential neighborhood. The project will cost approximately $3 million, and is fully reimbursable through grants.
The City will hold two virtual webinars to present the project and get feedback from the community. Stakeholders are invited to take part in either presentation to learn more and ask questions about potential construction impacts. Both webinars will have the same presentation in English and Spanish, and will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Dec. 9 and Dec. 10.
