Indio Library Grand Re-Opening and Library Transfer

News from County of Riverside and the City of Indio:

The County of Riverside and the City of Indio would like to invite you to celebrate the newly renovated Indio Library. The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 3:30PM on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at the Indio Library, located at 200 Civic Center Mall, Indio. Please join County and City officials for this celebration event as they unite to formally transfer the library facility to the City of Indio. The library will continue to be operated by the Riverside County Library System.

The Indio Library was closed temporarily for a renovation project which brought in new and improved amenities along with a new vibrancy to the library with new paint, new carpet, new workspaces, a remodeled children’s library, new fixtures and furniture, and of course, new BOOKS!

Both, the County of Riverside and the City of Indio officials and patrons have been extremely supportive of the library. “Literacy is the most fundamental aspect of a child’s success, or for adults at any time in their life,” said Supervisor V. Manuel Perez. “Libraries are a powerful tool for people of all ages who are motivated to read and learn, and achieve the self-power that comes from knowledge. I applaud the reopening of our Indio library. I am very pleased Indio residents will be able to enjoy the programs and library resources in their revitalized library. Let’s build libraries everywhere. Let’s encourage our families to read the word to read the world!”
