Indio, CA: Lyndon B. Johnson 3rd grade teacher Allison Cyr has been named one of four Riverside County Office of Education Teachers of the Year, and was selected to be one of only five teachers in the entire state to be named a California Teacher of the Year for 2020.
Cyr grew up in Indio, and has taught at Lyndon B. Johnson Elementary School in Indio for seven years.
“Its an incredible accomplishment, and we are all very proud of her,” says GCVCC President and CEO Joshua Bonner. “Having attended school in the Coachella Valley, and now sending my own children through the local public school system, this recognition comes as no surprise. Our school districts, administration, and teachers across the Coachella Valley have consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to educating our local youth. Teachers like Allison are working hard everyday to equip the next generation of community and business leaders.”
The Indio City Council will present Cyr with a Proclamation at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 18 via Zoom. The public is welcome to watch the recognition live via the City’s website.
