INDIO TO BEGIN SLURRY SEAL PROJECT ON HIGHWAY 111

News from: The City of Indio

Work To Take Place May 8-17, 2019 on Highway 111 Between Jefferson Street and
Madison Street

INDIO, CA (May 8, 2019) – The City of Indio’s Public Works Department will slurry seal Highway 111 between Jefferson Street and Madison Street starting Wednesday, May 8 to Friday, May 17, 2019. Work will occur between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Residents and motorists are urged to use alternate routes due to localized delays. Access for emergency vehicles will be unaffected. This work is weather dependent and cannot be performed if there is rain forecasted.

The road will be open to traffic at all times and access to businesses will be maintained but may be altered. There will be lane restrictions and some left turn pockets will be temporarily closed. Motorists can expect delays until Friday May 17, 2019.

Slurry seals are a mixture of asphalt and fine aggregate to repair cracks and surface defects on roads. The project is funded by Measure X, which was a voter-approved 1% sales tax increase measure passed by Indio voters in 2016 for infrastructure improvements and public safety.

Any questions or concerns should be directed to Charlie Hoffman with PMI, Inc. at 619-778-1921 or City of Indio Street Maintenance at 760-625-1802.
