News from the City of Indio
Indio, CA: Watch for construction at the intersection of Avenue 48 and Jefferson Street from Feb. 16 to April 30 as the City of Indio undertakes extensive road improvements. Work will occur between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The Jefferson Street and Avenue 48 Improvements Project will help circulation along Avenue 48 by adding a new right-turn only lane from westbound Avenue 48 to northbound Jefferson Street. The upgrades also include modifying the traffic signal, removing a portion of the raised median on the west side of Jefferson Street, reconstructing sidewalk and curb ramps, and striping modification.
During construction, residents will always be able to access their property, though temporary restrictions may occur periodically. Local access along Avenue 48 in the work area will be maintained throughout construction, and temporary traffic control devices will be in place to direct traffic accordingly.
The total construction cost for the project is $307,307 and is funded by Measure A. Measure A generates funds for transportation infrastructure in Riverside County through a half-cent sales tax.
The City of Indio appreciates your patience and cooperation during the duration of the project. Residents and motorists should expect travel delays, are urged to use alternate routes, and should observe all construction signs and obey road crews. Access for emergency vehicles will be unaffected.
