JFK Hospital Receives Primary Stroke Center Designation

Indio, CA: JFK Memorial Hospital is proud to announce their designation as a Primary Stroke Center by Riverside County Emergency Medical Services.  Local residents who are showing signs of a stroke, may now be transported by EMS to JFK for immediate care.

“Research shows that patients receiving care in a primary stroke center have a higher index of surviving and recovery than those treated in a hospital without this specialized care,” said Gary Honts, CEO of JFK Memorial Hospital.

JFK Memorial Hospital’s designation as a primary stroke center is significant to the East Valley. Before the certification, the hospital would treat walk in or transfer patients to other hospitals in the area.

“This is great news for the East Valley community, and the business community,” says Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce CEO Joshua Bonner.  “Our residents in the East Valley deserve the highest possible level of care, and Desert Care Network is working hard to provide it.  When people are considering moving their family to a new community, starting a business there or investing in one, they look at factors like education, safety, and access to quality health care for their employees and their families.  With the help of JFK Hospital, the level of care we offer continues to be a positive factor for our community.”
