News from the City of Indio

Indio, CA: The City of Indio is pleased to announce Coachella Valley native Argelia Jimenez as the new Community Program Administrator at the Indio Senior Center.

Jimenez graduated from Coachella Valley High School and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Administration from California State University, Chico.  She has worked in the recreation field for more than nine years, serving different communities in the Coachella Valley and Orange County.

Her passion in serving others has led her to a satisfying career in recreation.  “I believe recreational services have a strong impact in the quality of life and overall well-being of a person.”  Her vision for the Senior Center is to provide services for our elderly community by encouraging social and innovative recreational opportunities in pursuit of an active and healthy life.

Jimenez started her new position on February 3rd.  “She will be a great addition to the City of Indio team and we are excited to have her on board,” said Jim Curtis, Community Services Manager.  She replaces Nancy Vance, who retired in December.

The Indio Senior Center provides a place where more than 500 adults who are 50+ can socialize, share their skills, learn new things and gather information.  It is located at 45-700 Aladdin Street.  For more information on the Senior Center, call (760) 391-4170.
