News from: Old Town Artisan Studios
Old Town Artisan Studios will host Eggstravaganza 2022 Art Show and Auction, raising funds to provide free and low-cost art classes through their Outreach Arts Program. The public is invited to preview the egg exhibit, starting March 14 in the Leland Gallery at Old Town Artisan Studios, located at 78046 Calle Barcelona in Old Town La Quinta. The Artist and Public Reception will be held on March 28 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm.
The nonprofit is auctioning 275 eggs that have been donated by over 100 artists including Snake Jagger, Susan Stein, Bobbi Lampros, and other well-known figures in the Coachella Valley. 100% of the proceeds go towards their extensive outreach program. In the last two years (even during a pandemic), Old Town Artisan Studios served over 50,000 individuals through their mission, including children, adults, seniors, veterans, individuals with Alzheimer’s and those with special needs.
One of the newest additions in the exhibition is the Mobile Mission artwork, featuring egg masterpieces made by children from the Boys and Girls Club in Mecca. The nonprofit is currently coordinating a field trip to host these young artists to view their work in the art gallery this month, paired with activities on their 2.5-acre art campus. The ceramic eggs will be returned to the children just before Easter.
“When our young Mecca artists see their eggs for the first time this spring, they will be so proud to see them on display in a real gallery for everyone to see.” says Victory Grund, Founder of Old Town Artisan Studios. “They made something beautiful that they will keep for a lifetime. Our joy is knowing that the children we serve will know the magic of art and continue to nourish their creativity for the rest of their lives.”
Old Town Artisan Studios is a 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization committed to providing positive art experiences for all people despite age, disability or financial condition. The fee-based classes help to subsidize the studio’s operational costs, allowing all donations to support the mission to offer free or reduced-fee classes on-site and with their mobile art vans. Key partnerships include YMCA, Boys & Girls Clubs, Alzheimer’s Association, Hope Through Housing, Desert Arc, various schools and more.
