Pedestrian Safety Improvement Projects Underway now Through October in all Coachella School Zones

News from Coachella:

Pedestrian safety projects will also be underway on Avenida de Oro,

Avenue 51 and Avenue 52.

Several road construction projects have begun in Coachella school zones and other areas of the city and will continue through October.

Motorists are advised to take alternate routes to avoid delays in the following construction areas:

 

— Education Way improvements, including widening the existing roadway, installing ADA ramps, and constructing a new curb gutter. A new sidewalk will also be constructed on the east side alignment. Westside improvements include construction of a bike and pedestrian path and traffic buffer.

— Avenida De Oro school zone striping and signage enhancements from the intersection of Avenue 50 and Avenida De Oro to Guitron Street. This project will also include repairing and replacing cracked and broken sidewalks at various locations around Cesar Chavez Elementary School.

 

— Avenue 51 and Avenida Adobe will see installation of new ADA ramps, landings, striping and signage improvements.
— Avenue 52 sidewalk at La Ponderosa improvements include removal and replacement of the sidewalk, ADA ramps, curb and gutter.

 

— Avenue 52 and Shady Lane improvements include installation of rapid flashing beacons and safety enhancements to the existing cross walk.

 

— Frederick and Guiltron Street improvements include construction of a pedestrian island and crosswalk improvements.
