The residential battery collection program through the city of Indio and the Indio Chamber of Commerce is coming to an end. The city will no longer be able to dispose of household batteries with the county. On February 17, the battery bucket at local facilities will be collected and will not be replaced.
Riverside county handles battery collection/recycling under the household hazardous waste (HHW) umbrella. The City started this battery collection program to support residents needing a more convenient means to dispose of batteries correctly. With the closure of this program, the County HHW program will be the only program to outreach.
