Statewide education summit to take place at CSUSB Palm Desert Campus

The fourth annual Better Together: California Teachers Summit is a free day of learning by teachers, for teachers, open to all California educators on Friday, July 27, at Cal State San Bernardino’s Palm Desert Campus, and dozens of other locations across the state.

The summit will bring new and seasoned teachers together at 30 plus locations across the state to strengthen California’s teacher network, share resources and experience what it looks like to personalize learning for themselves. Personalized learning helps teachers meet the needs of all students. This year’s summit will give teachers choice and voice in their learning by building their own professional development paths and sharing strategies to address different learning styles in their classrooms.
 
Sir Ken Robinson will serve as keynote speaker. Robinson is an internationally- acclaimed expert on creativity and innovation and author of “Finding Your Element,” “The Element: How Finding Your Passion Changes Everything” and “Out of Our Minds.” His TED talk on developing an education system that nurtures creativity holds the illustrious title of “most popular TED talk of all time.”
A teacher, writer, researcher and adviser, Robinson will speak about the need for a learning revolution. He will make the case for a radical shift in education – from standardizing learning to personalizing learning – so that all students’ natural talents can flourish. Robinson’s remarks at CSU Fullerton will be simulcast to all 30 sites across California.
 
The Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities, the California State University and New Teacher Center are organizing the fourth annual summit.
 
The event is free to all California pre-K-12 teachers, teacher candidates, school administrators and other educators. 0.5 Continuing Education Units will be available at the cost of $27.50. Information on how to obtain these units will be provided the day of the event.
