Summit High School Needs Local Business

A message from Rudy Wilson, Principle of Summit High School

La Quinta, CA – Horizon/Summit is part of the Desert Sands Unified School District.  In June, we will be
graduating more than 160 high school students.  We need your help!  We would like to partner
with local businesses in hopes of preparing our students for future employment.  The transition
from high school to becoming an adult has often presented challenges between employment
expectations and student preparedness.

On Tuesday, May 30, 2017, Horizon/Summit would like to invite a representative
from your business to attend our Dress for Success Day.  We are asking that participating
business representatives conduct mock interviews with our graduating seniors.  Through a
schoolwide Close Read activity, students will have the opportunity to research and respond in
writing to literature supporting interviewing techniques and etiquette.  Through this process, our
students will receive incredible, real-world, employment experiences.  This will also provide
local businesses an opportunity to employ some of our most motivated and brightest students.
Festivities will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. and conclude by 12:00 p.m.  A general bank of
questions will be provided.

Desert Sands Unified School District provides a publication (The Beacon) to families of
nearly 30,000 students.  To show our gratitude, Horizon/Summit will publish the participation of
every business and business owner in the above publication.  It is imperative that our families are
aware of your hard work and support of our future graduates.  Please RSVP by May 26, 2017 to
(760) 238-9740 or [email protected] if you wish to join us on May 30, 2017.
