News from Supervisor V. Manuel Perez

Riverside, CA: Today, at the first county Board meeting of the year, Riverside County Supervisor V. Manuel Perez was selected by his colleagues to serve as chair of the Board of Supervisors for 2020.

“It is an honor and blessing not only for me to be here as the Riverside County Fourth District Supervisor, but to lead the County of Riverside, where I was born, grew up, raised my family and continue to live,” said Supervisor Perez. “I appreciate the support and faith of my fellow supervisors in selecting me as Board chair for 2020 and commit to working hard for all our communities.”

Perez is the first Latino on the Riverside County Board of Supervisors and now is the first chair of the Board of Latino heritage. Perez joined the Board of Supervisors in 2017 and was elected to a full four-year term in 2018.

In opening the meeting, Perez pointed to homelessness as a top priority for the Board to address in the coming year, along with associated concerns of affordable housing, behavioral health services and issues surrounding addiction. He also seeks to hone in on advancing Riverside County to make it the county of choice and the leader of all counties throughout the State of California.
