The City of Indio’s Fantasia Comic Con comes into its second year and is creating a big splash with some premier guests and events to draw fans of all ages. This year’s event will be held on May 12th and 13th at the Riverside County Fairgrounds, and will include familiar favorites such as panels, booths, cosplay, video games and vendors with a wide assortment of pop culture icons.

The guest list doesn’t fail to impress! Headlining the 2018 event is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles creator, Kevin Eastman. Millennials will be excited about the addition of Larry Houston, who produced and directed such 90’s cartoons as X-Men, GI Joe and Captain Planet. Janeshia Adams – Ginyard, who played Danai Gurira’s character Okoye’s stunt double as well as 1 of the 8 members of the Dora Milaje in the film Black Panther will be a guest at the event. Tony Fleecs, who is a writer and artist for My Little Pony, is a fun addition to the list.
Bat in the Sun showcases Fantasia’s ability to tap into the creator world, with a YouTube channel boasting over 2 million subscribers displaying epic super hero battles. Jay Fotos, who has worked on such projects as Spawn, Sam and Twitch, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mars Attacks, 30 Days of Night and the #1 New York Times Best Seller Lock & Key. Ken F. Levin who is the Producer of the AMC hit series Preacher and Executive Producer on the upcoming Amazon series The Boys will also be a guest. If celebrity panels aren’t your cup of tea, you’re sure to enjoy the cosplayers that will attend the event over the weekend. The cosplay contest was the highlight of the show at last year’s event and expects to draw an even larger piece of the cosplay community in year two. Professional Cosplayers such as Zoom CW Cosplay, Wonder Woman is Real and Nerd Mafia will be a welcomed edition to this year’s event.
A video game tournament sponsored by Game Stop will also be held throughout the weekend, with a wide variety of titles to test your skills. Pop culture vehicles, props and groups such as a replica Delorean Time Machine, Kitt from Knight Rider, Bumble Bee from Transformers, Johnny 5, The O.C. Turtles and Southland Ghostbusters will be guests at the event as well. If that isn’t enough, the event is seeing a near 50% increase in booths and vendors selling comic book and pop culture paraphernalia from toys, comics, figurines and much more.
