La Quinta, CA: The City of La Quinta has unveiled it’s newest public mural titled, “Bloom” by artist Nate Frizzell. The mural, located on Fred Waring Dr. and Adams St., is a form of art called hyperrealism and features a muted display of flowers, birds and the face of a woman.
The mural is the latest addition to the City’s Art in Public Places, which is funded through development fees paid to the City by commercial and residential construction. The mural, which took approximately 3 weeks to complete, was selected by the Community Services Commission and approved by City Council in 2020.
“Bloom” is a breathtaking art addition to La Quinta; While the artist was painting many residents sent him praise via social media or honked their horn in appreciation of him creating the mural. We know it will continue to be enjoyed for years to come, said Community Resources Director, Chris Escobedo.
Hyperrealism is a genre of painting and sculpture that resembles a high-resolution photograph. Artist Nate Frizzell has explained that the woman in the mural is not anyone specific, but instead represents “anyone you want it to be.”
