November 26, 2018 – INDIO, CA – The Temptations and The Four Tops, two iconic bands that have stood the test of time, will join forces on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the Special Events Center at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino and prove why they have become cultural icons to millions of fans.
For more than forty years, The Temptations have prospered, releasing a series of smash hits and sold-out performances throughout the world. The history of The Temptations is the history of contemporary American pop music itself. The group began its musical life in Detroit in the early sixties as a part of the original Motown machine. It wasn’t until 1964, however, that the Smokey Robinson written-and-produced “The Way You Do the Things You Do” turned the guys into stars.
An avalanche of hits followed, many of which attained immortality: “My Girl,” “It’s Growing,” “Since I Lost My Baby,” “Get Ready,” “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” “Beauty Is Only Skin Deep,” “Papa Was A Rolling Stone”…the hits kept coming.
The current lineup consists of Otis Williams, Ron Tyson, Terry Weeks, Larry Braggs and Willie Greene Jr. Beyond the fabulous singing, The Temptations are known for smooth stepping and flawless presentations. “The Temptations Walk” has become a staple of American style: flair, flash and class.
The Four Tops helped define the Motown sound of the 1960’s. They are four powerful voices buoyed by four powerful friendships. The founding members of the Four Tops, Levi Stubbs, Abdul “Duke” Fakir, Renaldo “Obie” Benson and Lawrence Payton Jr., performed together for more than four decades, building their harmonies, chart-toping songs and success on the foundation of a friendship that began as teenagers.
Over the years The Four Tops’ repertoire has included doo-wop, jazz, soul music, R&B, disco, adult contemporary, hard rock and show tunes. They turned out dozens of chart-topping hits including, “Baby I Need Your Loving,”
“Reach Out I’ll Be There,” “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch),”
“It’s the Same Old Song” and “Ain’t No Woman Like the One I Got.” In 1990, The Four Tops were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.
