Under New Leadership, Parkinson’s Resource Organization Plans Activities to Commemorate Parkinson’s Awareness Month in April

March 18, 2024

News from: Parkinson’s Resource Organization

April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month, and for the first time under new leadership Parkinson’s Resource Organization (PRO) has a full slate of activities planned to raise awareness and celebrate the Parkinson’s community here in Coachella Valley and across the Nation. The April events are the first public events planned under new leadership since Founder and President Jo Rosen retired from her role after 34 years.

“Every year we look forward to celebrating our amazing Parkinson’s community and increasing our public visibility to call attention to the fastest growing neurological condition in the world,” says Eileen Lynch, PRO’s new Executive Director and former Director of Operations. “This is a crucial multi-prong effort to raise awareness, gather as a community, and raise funds to support PRO’s completely free emotional and practical resources for people with Parkinson’s and caregivers. As we transition to a new era for PRO, we wanted to present a bold and energetic lineup while holding onto the qualities that make Parkinson’s Resource Organization such a gem. Education, hope, encouragement, and support are at the core of everything we do for people with Parkinson’s and caregivers.”

The organization has four events planned:
Second Annual Chocolate & Champagne Soirée & Silent Auction – Wednesday, April 10th from 5-7 PM at Boozehounds Palm Springs Third Annual PRO on the Move: Walk, Ride, or Roll – Saturday, April 27th, multiple locations and multiple times Charity Bingo at the Barracks – Saturday, April 6th from 3-5 PM in Cathedral City The ABCs of Parkinson’s Disease – Educational lecture series; April 3rd at Cathedral City Senior Center and April 10th at Joslyn Senior Center To learn more about Parkinson’s Awareness Month activities, contact PRO at (760) 773-5628 or info@parkinsonsresource.org.
