News from: The California Desert Grape Administrative Committee (CDGAC)
The California Desert Grape Administrative Committee (CDGAC), which locally administers the Federal marketing order for California grapes grown in a designated region of Southeastern California, is conducting elections to seat board members for a four-year term beginning immediately upon certification of the election.
The CDGAC consists of 10 members and 10 alternates: Four of the members and their alternates shall be area grape producers, or officers or employees of producers (producer members). Four of the members and their alternates shall be area grape handlers, or officers or employees of handlers (handler members). One member and alternate shall be either a producer or handler, or an officer or employee thereof. One member and alternate shall represent the public. The appointed members will serve a four-year term ending December 31, 2028.
Authorized by the Agricultural Marketing Agreement Act of 1937, marketing orders are industry-driven programs that help producers and handlers achieve marketing success by leveraging their own funds to design and execute programs that they would not be able to do individually. AMS provides oversight to fruit, vegetable and specialty crops marketing orders and agreements to help ensure fiscal accountability and program integrity.
AMS policy is that diversity of the boards, councils, and committees it oversees should reflect the diversity of their industries in terms of the experience of members, methods of production and distribution, marketing strategies, and other distinguishing factors, including but not limited to individuals from historically underserved communities, that will bring different perspectives and ideas to the table.
The CDGAC will be holding a meeting to conduct nominations/election at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at the CDGAC office (39-205 Leopard St. Ste E, Palm Desert, CA 92211) and via Zoom.
To submit a nomination or for meeting information, contact CDGAC Manager Kristy Kneiding at (760) 342-4385 or by email at [email protected].
