Anyone interested in running for offices in the November 7 general election may file papers for candidacy until 5 p.m. on Friday, August 11. If an incumbent fails to file, the deadline is extended for that office, for non-incumbents only, to 5 p.m. on August 16.
The following special districts have open seats:

• Cabazon Water District
• Chiriaco Summit Water District
• Pinyon Pines County Water District

The Registrar of Voters’ staff is available to help prospective candidates complete the necessary paperwork and to answer questions. Candidates unsure about the local district offices for which they are eligible, based on residency, should contact the Registrar of Voters office for help. Candidates will receive informational handbooks at the time they obtain their papers.
