As the Coachella Valley braces for prolonged high-temperature conditions, there are resources accessible to individuals who need them. To relieve the heat, the City of Indio has three cooling centers available: the Indio Senior Center is open Monday through Friday for seniors only, Coachella Valley Rescue Mission is open Monday through Friday, and Martha’s Village & Kitchen is open Monday through Sunday.

It is crucial to recognize the symptoms of heat stroke or heat exhaustion during extreme heat. Ensuring proper hydration, especially for children, seniors, and pets is essential when having extreme heat. Please be mindful of the well-being of those around you and your community. If you notice someone experiencing a heat stroke, please call 911 immediately, as it is considered an emergency. If you’re feeling the heat, find relief at a nearby cooling center.
