News from: Coachella Valley Public Cemetery District
Coachella Valley Public Cemetery District (CVPCD) earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2024.
“This accomplishment, together with our other recent awards and recognitions, demonstrates our commitment to exceptional public cemetery operations and reflects the high standards our community expects and deserves,” said Board Chair Ernesto Rosales.
Only a small number of public agencies statewide earned the award this year. Of more than 5,000 government agencies in California eligible for the program, fewer than 10 percent met the criteria. CVPCD is also one of only two public cemetery districts in California to receive the Certificate of Achievement.
“I want to thank our Finance Manager, Sherry Winder, and our Auditor, David Farnsworth, for their exceptional work in producing a report that meets the highest standards,” said General Manager Joshua Bonner. “This recognition reflects the ongoing support of our Board of Trustees and the collective efforts of our entire team.”
The GFOA Certificate of Achievement program is a nationally respected benchmark and the highest form of recognition in public-sector accounting and financial reporting. Earning the distinction requires the publication of an easily readable and efficiently organized annual comprehensive financial report that conforms to rigorous program standards. The award adds to a growing list of recent honors for the District and reinforces its reputation for excellence in governance and public service.
