Martha’s Village & Kitchen Pro-Active Measures to Keep Families and Children Safer during COVID-19

December 9, 2020

News from: Martha’s Village & Kitchen

Even before the State of California issued a new Regional Stay At Home order today, the leadership of Martha’s Village & Kitchen proactively created and implemented a bold and aggressive plan to keep our clients safe.

“My number one goal is to keep all families, children, and staff safe and secure,” stated President and CEO Linda Barrack. To do this, Martha’s Village & Kitchen has in place an abundance of precautionary measures. A temperature check is administered to all people before they are allowed to enter the facility. Literally every square inch of the facility is cleaned and disinfected continuously, and air purifiers are placed strategically throughout the expansive two-story “Village” facility.

Martha’s Village & Kitchen is adamant about operating a 100% masking facility. Clients and staff are provided with PPE such as paper face masks; staff are also required to wear protective goggles. The organization is also scrupulous about proper physical distancing, and disinfecting stations are available throughout the facility.

Martha’s Village & Kitchen also instituted safety protocols within other areas of the property. For example, the wonderful outdoor playground has been closed since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, and has remained so because Covid-19 cases continue to surge dramatically upward. President Linda Barrack continued: “As much as I and all at Martha’s Village & Kitchen would enjoy nothing more than to allow the clients’ children to play freely on the playground equipment, Martha’s Village & Kitchen had the foresight to close it many months ago to help prevent the possibility that any child would become infected with the debilitating virus.”

Even if the Regional Stay At Home order is modified and restrictions are lifted three weeks from today, Martha’s Village & Kitchen will continue to be pro-active in ensuring the health and safety of its clients and staff. Not only is Martha’s Village changing lives – it is saving them.

Today, from its campus in Indio, CA, Martha’s Village offers unique life-changing programs based on the nationally-recognized “continuum of care model” breaking the cycle of homelessness. Through this gateway to hope, people regain their lives becoming responsible, self-sufficient and productive citizens while passing on their newfound independence and life skills to their children and families.
