News from: Desert Recreation District
Desert Recreation District (DRD), in partnership with title sponsors WADE (Wellness and Disability Equity Alliance) and Riverside University Health System, is excited to announce that registration for the first-ever Great DRD Hunt has been extended! Families, friends, businesses, and teams now have until Wednesday, September 17 to register for this one-of-a-kind, free scavenger hunt adventure that has the entire Coachella Valley buzzing.
From Saturday, September 20 through Saturday, October 11, participants of all ages can explore DRD sites and sponsor destinations while completing fun challenges like photo submissions, video clues, Q&A tasks, and more. Whether joining as a family, a group of friends, a work team, or even as a solo adventurer, everyone will have the chance to discover new places, meet new people, and reconnect with the beauty and spirit of our community.
“The enthusiasm we’ve seen for The Great DRD Hunt is incredible,” said Lindsay Woods, Interim General Manager of DRD. “Extending registration through September 17 gives more families the chance to get outside, explore our parks, and create memories together. This event is more than just a scavenger hunt; it’s about bringing people together across the valley.”
The hunt will conclude with a big community celebration on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at La Quinta Community Park. This family friendly evening will feature food, games, music, and awards for challenge winners, making it the perfect way to wrap up three weeks of adventure.
This event is made possible thanks to the generous support of our sponsors: Fleet Science Center, Coachella Valley Disaster Preparedness Network, Kaiser Grille, Texas Roadhouse, Stuft Pizza, Coachella Valley Firebirds, One Valley Foundation, Sonic Drive-In, Agua Caliente, Red Jeep Tours, and Fantasy Springs.
Registration is free and open now through September 17 at MyRecreationDistrict.com
