Did you know that one of the state’s leading recyclers and producers of sustainable products and solutions has been right here in the Coachella Valley since 1966? Imperial Western Products began in the commodities market trading agricultural products. Today they are broadly diversified and are setting the standard for proactive environmental protection and conservation. Recently purchased by Denali, their tagline says it all: Waste should not be wasted. They have always been at the forefront of their industries.
On March 10th, the Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce (GCVCC) was pleased to welcome over 40 people to the Ribbon Cutting celebrating the completion of a microgrid. This unique project is offsetting the use of electricity by adding 2,106 solar panels and reducing their energy consumption by 31+%. They are utilizing this cleaner energy to recycle food waste into animal feed making Denali (formerly IWP) the largest and longest running food waste recyclers in California. The celebration started with a warm welcome from Jason Cabanyog, the Vice-President of Operations-West for Denali and followed with the presentation of several certificates from representatives of Congressman Raul Ruiz, Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia, Supervisor Manny Perez, and Mayor Steven Hernandez, and Clair Sweeney of the California Energy Commission. The ceremony ended with a presentation of a plaque from the Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce and the cutting of the ribbon.
Tours of the property took place to showcase their operations including Biotane Pumping and Fuels, Bakery Solutions, Organic Solutions, Enforce Products and IWP Fabrication. Then guests were treated to freshly made sandwiches and cookies from TKB who offered sandwiches like the “Coachella”, the “IWP, the “CDFA” and the “Calif. Energy Commission”.
Thank you to Jason and his team for inviting the Chamber to be a part of this great celebration! For more information, visit iwpusa.com
