The City of Indio will continue efforts for the Madison Street Widening Project on Monday February 12 – Tuesday, February 13, 2024, as street paving begins. From 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., Madison Street between Avenue 48 and Highway 111, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction and the traffic signal at Highway 111 and Madison Street is expected to be on red flash throughout the affected hours.
Motorists and pedestrians are advised to exercise caution and expect delays when travelling through these intersections during the affected hours. To minimize delays, it is recommended for travelers to use alternative routes or adjust commutes accordingly.
The Madison Street Widening Project includes widening Madison Street from three to four lanes for a quarter mile south of Highway 111. The project will also include improvements such as the addition of curb, gutter, bike lanes, and sidewalk along the east side of Madison Street within the project limits.
